The Commercial Side of South Beach

The Commercial Side of South Beach

South Beach is most known for its upbeat nightclub scene. If you want to have a vacation where you can enjoy entertainment all night and never have to go back to your hotel room, then South Beach is the place where many go. South Beach has a wide variety of commercial areas that offer everything from model agencies, nightclubs, excellent restaurants and hotels.

South Beach’s premiere shopping area is located on Lincoln Road where you can find an open-air pedestrian mall. In addition to the many retail outlets in this mall there are also several restaurants and nightclubs. This way you can get your entertainment and shopping done at the same time and in the same place. Lincoln Road has changed from the early days of South Beach and it is now a mainstream area with many boutique shops and restaurants.

Go to South Beach’s easternmost street called Ocean Drive if you want an experience much like what many people envision when they think of South Beach and Florida. This street is where the majority of the tourist and Spring Break crowd spends their time. Some of the most popular and upscale restaurants are located along this street along with a good majority of South Beach’s nightclubs. Then just one block west on Collins Street you find additional nightclubs that couldn’t fit on Ocean Drive along with the more historic hotels.

If you are looking for unique shops along with a good selection of art galleries then you should take a stroll down Espanola Way which runs between Collins Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue. Most of the buildings on this street were built in the late twenties and renovated, but they all still have a romantic Mediterranean village look and appeal.

If you are going to be in South Beach awhile or are using a summer vacation home then you will need to find the local businesses. Alton Road which is three blocks from Biscayne Bay has the most local businesses. This street includes dry cleaners, supermarkets and fast food restaurants for those who don’t want to go to one of the more upscale restaurants.

Then in South Beach there is Washington Avenue which is most popular with the younger crowd and Spring Break vacationers. Along this street you will find the most popular and largest nightclubs in South Beach. During Spring Break this street is often clogged with traffic from early morning until at least six o’clock every night.
South Beach has a selection of over a hundred nightclub which makes it a popular destination for the party crowd. Many of the nightclubs in South Beach close around five in the morning. When traveling to South Beach you should plan your nightclub outings in advance since entrance can be difficult if you are from the local area. You should also be prepared to spend some money since many of the nightclubs is South Beach have a cover between twenty and sixty dollars and a long wait to get in.
