Hundreds of people were on the sidewalk outside the terminal after TSA agents were exposed to an aerosol from a passenger’s bag. A total of four TSA agents were being treated for respiratory problems after being exposed to the aerosol. Hazardous Materials teams were on the scene and trying to ascertain what type aerosol was sprayed. At least 14 departure flights were delayed, and several inbound flights were diverted, according to airport spokesperson Greg Meyer. Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush was among the passengers stuck at the airport. “Currently stuck at Ft. Lauderdale airport standing outside underneath the airport with hundreds of people. They won’t let us leave,” Bush tweeted. Broward Sheriffs Office deputies stood at the fates of the terminal preventing people from entering. Passengers waiting outside were concerned about the effect the delay would have on their flights. One passenger said he’s been waiting for 45 minutes and was concerned about making his 7 p.m. flight, though he had expected it would be delayed because of bad weather.

Well now you can know, thanks to some fascinating data compiled by Harvard University about babies born between the seventies and the nineties. The least popular birthday?  Leap Day, February 29th.  No suprise there because it only comes around every four years. Second least popular is Christmas Day, followed by New Year’s Day, Christmas Eve and January 2nd. Then comes Independence Day, despite July being a popular month. All the days surrounding Thanksgiving are also way down on the list. The obvious reason is that the number of births induced is soaring, and doctors and parents don’t want work on holidays. But parents are doing something else during the winter holidays. As you can see from the dark rectangles on this chart, September is by far the most popular month for birthdays, including all of the top ten and the most popular birthdate of all, September 16th. September, of course, is nine months after the holiday season. If you have a September birthday, you now have too much information about what your parents were doing during the holidays the year before. And, if today is your birthday, May 18th is the hundred and eithy-eighth most popular. Happy birthday!

It’s a simple sentence that’s not very easy to answer. But it’s one three South Florida Holocaust survivors are trying to explain it to teenagers in hopes of keeping their legacy alive, long after their lives end. It’s their life’s work. Survivor David Schaecter told CBS4 News that during the Holocaust, “We all had one thing in common. That was death.” Schaecter, and survivors David Mermelstein and Joe Sachs have turned that common bond into something much greater. They make it their life’s work to make sure they educate the next generations so the world never forgets the atrocities of the Holocaust. Six million Jews killed. One and a half million of them children. For that reason, they traveled back to Auschwitz in Poland to tell their stories of horror in a place known for its horrific treatment and murder of Jews. Survivor David Mermelstein said “You just can’t forget it. You cannot forget it. This is my seventh trip here and it doesn’t get easier.” The trip back here is a difficult one, but they continue to do it, as long as their bodies allow them to. “I want to feel that I left a legacy. I want to feel that I reached a lot of children,” David Schaecter told us during the trip. Survivor Joe Sachs, agreed whole-heartedly. “If we can educate the younger generations to reduce the amount of hatred and prejudice maybe one day there will be a better world and that’s what drives me.” Join CBS4 News for a special presentation: March of the Living , Return to Auschwitz Sunday, May 20th at 6:30 p.m.
